Mooretown School
Mooretown School February 1914
The Mooretown district was established in December 1863. A one room school house with a bell tower was built just outside town and remained in use as a classroom until the 1940's. A new two room school building was completed in the 1940's; the original building containing only the first grade class. By the 1950's the original school house was used as a library until it was condemed by a county building inspector. The original building was torn down.
The bell in the tower is now used as the trophy for the annual football game between Oroville and Las Plumas High Schools.
